CASE STUDY

Breckland Council

Ballicom was appointed as a trusted contractor for Breckland Council to provide, install and integrate all of the company’s IT systems as well as its professional audio-visual equipment.

As part of a large refurbishment project which included renovation of their council house building, Breckland Council looked to source brand new computer hardware for employees, as well as a range of other larger pieces of equipment and other top spec devices.

The tendering process was very competitive, and Ballicom bid for the contract to provide hardware, as well as other associated products and services. This included installation, system programming, as well as one full year of support for the organisation.

WHAT WE PROVIDED

Breckland Council Case Study

Challenges

We faced a range of challenges, from stock restraints and COVID-19 safe adherence onsite to product delivery. We also faced some challenges collaborating with an unknown FM service outsourcing company to ensure health and safety requirements were met. A health and safety risk assessment was conducted remotely and with the guidance of the FM-managed service manager.

During installation, we also found that Breckland Council tours were running all day, so our team of expert technicians had to work around members of the public. This was a challenge, but we were able to work around the issue to deliver success.

Ballicom had to overcome challenges due to COVID-19. Still, we have succeeded in ensuring our deliveries are made as timely as possible, whilst giving full consideration to health and safety. Once we had been awarded the contract, we held stock in our own warehouse until the agreed installation date.

To ensure the minimum amount of disruption for our client during the working week, we scheduled the fitout and installation at the weekend.

At the end of each day working on site, we ensured the project was left safely and securely so that work could continue safely and promptly the following day. We guaranteed frequent communication with our client, and we ensured that any unavoidable changes, or any alterations subsequently requested were properly communicated and incorporated into our overall project and installation plan.

Not only did our client remain fully functional, but Ballicom also ensured that everything was neat and tidy. We enforced the strictest of health and safety measures to ensure a safe and effective working environment for our client’s personnel and our technicians.

All cabling was hidden, and our work area was thoroughly cleaned and left in a safe condition after we carried out the work. We pride ourselves on effectively managing every stage of our projects, from inception and installation to client sign-off.

Outcome

Quality installation, completed in a timely fashion by seven Ballicom engineers – supervised by our General Manager. A single drop of order, as requested on a Saturday morning, our team was onsite to offload and adhere to site regulations and restrictions. All in all, it was a successful project which allowed Breckland Council to test and sign off the installation with zero non-conformities and zero dead-on-arrival products being shipped to the site.
